Hello! Today, I'll be giving some tips on how to make presentations faster.
1. Write first, design later
Writing the information first will allow you to take a majority of the workload off of your shoulders. Then, you can design the presentation in a way that fits best for the topic. Designing first might compromise the quality of the information, especially if you’re in a time crunch. You can also collect links and pictures before formatting everything.
2. Use templates
Presentation templates will give you a consistent theme and make formatting and designing the presentation easier. If you find that the templates on Google Slides and Microsoft PowerPoint seem limited for your needs, you can use template options from other websites. Here is an article that provides a list of many sites with templates.
3. Keep the theme minimal and clean
You don’t need to be super extra for your presentation to look professional. Going with one or two color and font choices and keeping it consistent works as well. Besides, too much on the screen can be distracting.
4. Less is more
Be clear and concise. This is mainly a general tip, however it can be helpful as you are writing less. It is also helpful for your audience as you are getting right to the point.
5. Avoid just writing and writing and writing
Instead of writing multiple paragraphs of information, include images as well. A picture is worth a thousand words. This will not only save time since you’re writing less, it will also work as a visual aid. Diagrams, videos, and gifs work as well.

I’ve been hesitant but I’m opening commissions again! I’m not sure how many people want one from me, but I’ll cap my list at three people and work on one at a time. I’ll update the status on the pinned post of this blog!
(This post is a little plain, but the few commission examples I’ve done are under the “commission works” tag if you want to examine those more. The rest of the necessary info is on a blog page titled “commission info” or is available if you ask me. There’s also my smaller general art spot @cactuscely if you want to see non-MH stuff)
The base prices are as follows (for 1 full body character)
sketch - $15
Flat color - $30
Full color - $55
Full color (detailed subject and/or background) - $75+
If you don’t want to search, I threw together some visual examples below:

Thank you for your interest and time uwu
If you are interested you can initially contact me through the messager here or on my other blogs @skreetles and the art blog linked above, or on Discord.

tips for an awesome class presentation:
- make it look pretty (powerpoint recent versions has a little design tool that arranges images and text effortlessly. also a lot of universities and schools have a partnership with microsoft you might not know about. just go to this website and enter your school email to see if your school has the partnership and you can download all the office stuff for FREE if it does - or you can ask your school to get one, mine did after i asked so yours might already have it!)
- don't write too much text. one sentence max in each slide unless you're writting a specific extensive definition or similar
- use topics instead of full text (write what you plan to say on a notebook or the slide notes and you can read it during the presentation)
- use images related to the theme (try to get ones that look good and have good quality) but try to use an image of something not written on the slide. for example your presentation is about pizza and you wrote steps to make pizza. you can put an image of the dough resting for example and explain what it is when reading the topic, it directs your viewers attention to what you're saying and it's interactive
- if you want you can draw stuff on the board (like a scheme, an actual drawing of something if you're good at it, breaking down words, whatever you feel you could make a visual out of during the presentation is great because the class will be interested in what you're saying and not trying to read an entire slide while you're talking)
- videos are cool too! if you find a video on youtube about your topic that's fun to watch throw it in there. but don't if it's too long/boring. (if you do have a video always download it so you don't have tech difficulties)
- this is the hardest part but be confident in what you're saying. even if you have no clue of what it is just pretend you're talking to your friends instead of a class (but don't get too comfortable)
- tips in becoming comfy in what you're saying is reading up on it and taking your time when collecting the information. if you like the subject it's obviously going to show and you'll be more confident when talking about it, but i know it's not always possible to choose.
- fake it till you make it. this is the best tip i have. if you're confident and notice your classmate is a bit nervous you can help them by casually talking to them about the topic or reminding them of words, etc. if you're the nervous friend it's okay, if it doesn't go as good as you expected it there's nothing wrong with that, not everyone is the same and i know it's hard to present in front of strangers.

I made a few simple printables for devising presentation “scripts” (see my presentation guide). These were designed for use in tangent with a standard PowerPoint presentation- like an essay, presentations should begin with a brief introduction, three or four “body points”, and a conclusion summarising key information. On this printable, elaborate on the brief bullet points in your on- screen presentation, and use as a “script”. Really hope this helps someone!

I work best at night.
It may be stupid to start working on my presentation in a few hours all over again and it may be stupid to send the finished presentation to my teacher in the middle of the night
But as long as I finish my presentation I don't really care 🤷🏻‍♀️

okay since final presentations are coming up, here are some tips i've learned, feel free to add more!
when making powerpoints, it's easiest to follow the 6 by 6 rule-
only 6 words per line,
only 6 lines per slide, max
it's useful to put info on the ppt that is hard to catch during the speech
or just the most important points
write up your speech out first, avoid winging it
a single page double spaced is typically 2 minutes speaking
for example: 15 minutes = 7.5 pages double spaced
if your speech is based on a paper you've written...
narrow it down to the most important phrases, examples, and analysis.
if you can take up your typed speech, great
but highlight or underline key phrases...
so you make sure to hit those points if you diverge
or so you can look up and make eye contact and then resume
if only notecards,
don't write the same points as your powerpoint,
key phrases are best,
you know the content!
you did the work!
you know your stuff and you'll do great!
back to eye contact-
memorize a just few key phrases if you're super nervous and can't memorize the whole thing
and then look up at those lines
but don't worry about looking at anyone in particular...
windows and walls are great audiences too.
breathe!
you can do it!
